Summer of Loooove

Last night I found myself torn between my two loves. Standing at the Scooper Bowl on City Hall Plaza, balancing three melting cups of ice cream in
one hand and my spoon and camera in the other, I tried to savor a spoonful of mint-chip while shooting my sister enjoying a huge bite of Ben and
Jerry’s. Instead I wound up with Edy’s on my eyebrow and a blurry, blown out photo. Realizing that, like a George divided, I could not stand if I didn’t
unite these two worlds, I swore I’d find a way. And so I am embarking on a summer long journey, a journey I call “the summer of looove,” to do
just that. I will cris-cross New England in search of the best ice cream in the land, all while documenting the endeavor and its frozen fruits with my
camera. The task in front of me is great, the “consumes the most ice cream per-capita in the U.S.” landscape fraught with challenges. Do I have the
lingual dexterity to keep my cone from dripping on my extra large LCD screen? I am up for it. Follow me from the Scooper Bowl to Richardson’s, JP
Licks to Kimball’s as I churn my two passions into a rich, creamy and high res “summer of looove.”

thinking of summer…. and proxy apparel ;)

Here’s hoping that reviving some warm weather photos will speed the return of spring! Last summer Vanessa Rhinesmith, Heather-Jean MacNeil, Amanda Maciel Antunes and I went out on a beautiful, warm, sunny evening to the Arbs to shoot photos for Heather-Jean’s awesome line of fairly traded clothing: Proxy apparel. Heather-Jean started the line as an MBA student at Simmons and is now working full-time to build the company. I can’t wait to see what it becomes. Checkout the website to stay tuned.

Just got back from a fab long weekend in L.A. Conclusion: long-distance relationships suck; L.A. doesn’t.

save the dates

Jen recently asked me to shoot photo booth-style photos of her and Matt for their save the dates. We wanted them to look authentic, so we went to the Liberty Tree Mall and all three of us squished into a tiny, but real, photo booth in the food court. The light was terrible, I was way too close to get a good shot, and there was a security guard circling like a shark, itching to tell me about the ‘no photography in the mall’ policy. After taking some terrible photos and paying the booth for a few trial sets, it was obvious Matt was done. We headed to Qdoba to regroup. A few delicious burritos and Cokes later we were off to Jen’s parents house, where we hung a sheet in a doorway in the kitchen and with much cajoling to get them to look in love, I snapped the photos above.
